This position is located in the Public Affairs Office of NIST. The incumbent will be working with conferences on and off site. ZA-I: The incumbent will assist the NIST Conference Program Director and other team members in the coordination and support of conferences and other events. Primary duties include monitoring and tracking the NIST conference registration system and conference attendee databases. This individual will produce various reports and surveys as required. They will assist conference attendees from Government agencies, the private sector and academia and work with the NIST Program Chairs with meeting preparation, logistics, and on-site support. The incumbent will create badges, staff registration desks, and assist with any issues that may arise. Incumbent will also assist in creating meeting webpages, surveys, and the editing of promotional meeting materials.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

ZA-I - Applicants are required to have 3 years of general experience, one of which was equivalent to at least a GS-4.

OR

4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree



ZA-II - Applicants must possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the the GS-7 (ZA-I at NIST) federal level. Specialized experience is defined as: administrative support to a work unit(s) in two or more of the following areas: inputting/tracking data, communicating professionally with customers and/or co-workers in writing and verbally, multi-tasking, detail-oriented tasks, documenting/filing, and organizing work.

OR

A Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

A combination of education and experience.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

This position allows you to qualify and be considered based on your education. Foreign education: Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation with a course by course listing along with your application. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.
