Participates in the development of strategies to support and promote OPM views and interests with regards to complex, controversial and varied communications matters in connection with the OC Director.
Reviews emerging Administration policy initiatives to advise on their affect on the agency's initiatives.
Manages day-to-day operation of OC, including management of all staff, budget, performance goals, and workload.
Creates, vets, and clears material intended for general public distribution and prepared by employees and officials of OPM.
In absence of OC Dir, Dept Dir is a key member of the agency continuity of operations team, is always reachable during emergency conditions to help inform the public and Federal employees on status of Gov't operations.
Research and development of a wide variety of materials, such as press releases, radio and television scripts, articles and pamphlets used in the course of effecting and implementing OPM's Public Affairs program.

Qualifications
For the GS-15: You must have one year specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level (or equivalent) serving as an expert in writing speeches, press releases, scripts, and web content AND/OR developing strategies to support and promote the agency's mission and goals.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 15 level.
