In this position you will serve with a team of senior and/or lead engineers working on various missile projects throughout the organization.
Performs substantive systems engineering assignments in Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (BMDS) in key specialty areas of systems engineering; radars; missiles; targets; command and control; modeling and simulation, kill vehicles; space vehicles; directed energy; systems architecture or performing work identifying promising technology concepts, phenomena, data and technologies with potential application for BMDS and developing promising approaches or assuring safe operations for all BMDS test, maintenance and operation activities; performs test engineering for the BMDS at the systems, element, and/or military component level with key specialty areas such as Test policy and Programs; Planning and Design; Test Operation and Execution, Test Analysis and Reporting; and or Test Resources.Engineering disciplines include fields such as Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Computer, Industrial and Systems, Materials, Chemical and General engineering.
Develops mathematical models and processes, techniques and procedures to create new or substantially improved methods or products.
Analyzes operational/user requirements and performs functional analysis, component/element/system synthesis, and verification, validation and engineering controls.
Participates in special projects or studies where there are no clear organizational responsibility and that cut across organization and functional lines.
Participates in the design modeling and simulation of complex systems.
Advises in matters such as identifying and managing risk. This may include analysis of data using fundamental risk management concepts and ongoing assessment of program/project risk management activities.
Advises on technical, acquisition and operational issues related to technical performance requirements: system engineering, financial management and performance trades among special program elements.

Specialized Experience for GS-07:
This position requires 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level OR 1 year of graduate-level education OR superior academic achievement.
Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 (which may have been gained in the private sector) is assisting others by gathering or organizing data and applying conventional analytical methods and techniques to engineering issues.
Specialized Experience for GS-09:
This position requires 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's OR equivalent graduate degree.
Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 (which may have been gained in the private sector) is applying engineering methods and theories in support of one of the following: Systems Engineering, Test and Evaluation, or Quality, Safety, and Mission Assurance.
If substituting education for experience at the GS-07 level, you must possess 1 year of graduate-level education OR superior academic achievement. If substituting education for experience at the GS-09 level, you must possess a masters or equivalent degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.
