The incumbent of this position will work varying shifts, weekends, and some holidays.
Develops, designs and coordinates exhibits fabricated in-house or by contract, installs and maintains permanent and temporary exhibits for the information and education of public visitors and school groups to the site; researches designs, fabricates and/or procures scientific and historically accurate replicas to use in interpretive programs; works with other interpreters on development and production of graphics products for education and interpretation; cooperatively develops, procures, operates and maintains audio-visual systems of varying complexity for multi-media presentations and live programs; serves as an advisor and monitor on universal accessibility of exhibits, trails, etc.; utilizes suitable display techniques for security and conservation of historical artifacts and scientific specimens; works with interpretive teams and partner groups; and works within an interpretive team on developing education and interpretive publications, projects, signs, and general interpretive planning related to goals and annual work plans.

Qualifications
GS-5 Qualifications: Three years of general experience, with one year equivalent to a GS-04 in the federal service. Examples of qualifying general experience include: design and construction of exhibits, posters, photographic displays, signs, or displays of art or technical equipment; preparation or mounting of museum specimens; wood carving, sculpting, illustrating, interior or industrial design; or the use of tools and techniques related to carpentry, plastics, sheet metal, electrical or electronics work, machining, painting, molding, or in making machines, apparatus, and instruments. Or four years of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree, education should include courses related to illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position. GS-7 Qualifications: 1 year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-05 level in the Federal service that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled OR 1 full year of graduate level education OR Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) Or a combination of education and specialized experience.
Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. Examples of GS-07 level specialized experience include: Experience with current interpretive principles and techniques as they apply to developing and coordinating exhibit and interpretive plans, basic care and conservation of historic artifacts, developing layouts, technical specifications, budgets and timelines for exhibits, graphic products and interpretive products.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
