Occasional travel - If selected, you must agree to travel to hostile and hardship areas as well as any areas outside the U.S., sometimes on short notice. In support of the travel, you will be required to complete specialized traing and meet established health standards for travel in hostile and hardship areas.
As the head of the office, the AIG serves as senior advisor to the Inspector General and DIG on all matters involving evaluations and special projects and is responsible for planning, initiating, developing, and overseeing ESP policies, procedures, and techniques. The executive ensures compliance with all applicable professional standards, including those developed CIGIE.
The incumbent will:
conduct high-priority reviews and evaluations of Department and BBG programs and operations;
prepare management alerts, management assistance reports, information reports, and other time-sensitive reports that capture systemic and urgent issues facing the Department and BBG;
employ data analytics and data-mining capabilities to identify spending trends and anomalies when possible;
deliver prompt, actionable reports to support OIG actions before its stakeholders, including senior leadership at the Department, BBG, and Congress;
be responsible for analyzing Department and BBG programs, as well as allegations of misconduct, and making recommendations to pursue civil or criminal actions;
serve as the Whistleblower Protection Ombudsman for the Department and BBG to meet its requirement under Section 116(b) of the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012 (WPEA), Public Law 112-199;
ensure that all OIG survey and evaluation reporting and other pertinent reviews are conducted in accordance with the “Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluation;”
ensure that all misconduct reviews are conducted in accordance with appropriate standards;
consult closely with the AIG for Investigations, who is responsible for managing the OIG Hotline—a clearinghouse for receiving and handling allegations regarding fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, or misconduct affecting Department and BBG programs and operations;
work closely with the Inspector General and other senior OIG leaders to seek remedies where fraud, waste, and abuse are substantiated; to develop and organize analyses or studies of patterns and practices furthering fraud, waste, and abuse; and to make recommendations to improve overall Department and BBG operations;
prepare an annual plan for evaluations and special projects concerning the programs and operations of the Department and BBG;
make recommendations for corrective action concerning problems, abuses, and deficiencies; and reports on the progress made in obtaining departmental and BBG concurrence on such corrective recommended action;
ensure that all whistleblower concerns are addressed properly and in compliance with all applicable law; and
prepare high priority reports in response to Congressional inquiries.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
