Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference eligibles residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.

Military Spouses may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference.

Military spouses who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member.

Duties

Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • You will analyze repair practices for development of procedural instructions on methods for resolution.
  • You will assess combat weapons systems during test evolutions to measure systems effectiveness.
  • You will coordinate with project leads to meet project requirements, schedules, and costs.
  • You will advise management in the resolution of problems detected within shipboard network systems.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time, or by surface craft.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Work involves considerable walking, climbing, and crawling in and around the systems/equipment with marginal accessibility being a frequent problem. Standing for several hours at a time on hard steel decks also occurs regularly during shipboard installation/repair work.



Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical and engineering support in the performance, operation, maintenance repair and modernization, system testing/certification to production shops and ships home-ported and assigned within the facility and/or on shipboard electronic counter measure systems and decoy launching systems of ships.

OR

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical and engineering support to production shops, shipboard level repairs and modernization, system testing/certification of ship systems.

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing shipboard level repairs and modernization and fleet technical support to ships home-ported and assigned within the facility.

OR

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical and engineering support to production shops, shipboard level repairs and modernization of system ships.

Tour of duty will be 36 Months.
