This position is located in the Office of Disability Assistance, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA)and reports directly to the Deputy Under Secretary for Disability Assistance (DUSDA). The Senior Management Advisor (SMA) assists the DUSDA in determining organization goals and objectives and develops short- and long-range plans to accomplish these goals. Additional, the SMA assists in the preparation of budget estimates and effective budget control. The incumbent oversees the development and evaluation of policies, plans, regulations, standards, and procedures necessary to effectively implement agency-wide programs in the area of VA disability benefits and outreach/direct services for Veterans, their families and survivors. This includes analyzing and making appropriate recommendations on legislation; coordinating activities with other services, Federal and State agencies, Veterans Service Organizations and Members of Congress.

The Senior Management Advisor is responsible for assisting the DUSDA with the oversight, technical operations, and development of policy, procedures, regulations, and training materials for Compensation Service, Pension and Fiduciary (P&F) Service, Insurance Service and Benefits Assistance Service.
