About the Position:
U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion-Albany is the largest Recruiting Battalion (BN) in the United States Army Recruiting (USAREC). Our area of operation includes the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Europe. Established in December 1972, Albany Battalion's mission is to provide active Army and Army Reserve enlistees for our nation's defense.

Duties

Help

  • Develop and manage advertising programs for Active Army and U.S. Army Reserve recruiting within the Battalion (BN) area.
  • Plan and supervise sales promotion activities within the BN area.
  • Plan and supervise all aspects of Command information, public information and community relations within the BN.
  • Supervise and direct the work activities of civilian employees

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) planning, organizing, and/or conducting various public affairs programs and functions; (2) writing news stories or feature articles for publication and layout in a newsletter/newscast/news release; (3) conveying information for dissemination to employees and through the media; and (4) experience instructing/leading others. . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major course of study in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, or other field related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-09 grade or equivalent.
