About the Position:
This position is located at Test Measurement Diagnostic and Equipment (TMDE) activity at Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Clarksville is ranked as the 57th Best Place to Live by Money Magazine, 11th Best City in the U.S. for Public Golf by Golf Digest, and is the state's fifth largest city with a revitalized & thriving riverfront district. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.

Duties

Help
  • Certify and evaluate of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • Troubleshoot and repair of test, measurement of diagnostic equipment.
  • Collect and analyzer calibration data.
  • Implement, modify and develop technical procedures.
  • Prepare reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provide technical information.

  • This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • The work of this position is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibration without more than normal supervision: Calibrate a variety of equipment; Repair equipment to specifications; and interpret electronic principles and practices. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORTS The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
