About the Position: The Presidio of Monterey (POM) Fire Department is a progressive, two (2) company fire department located in Fort Ord Military Community in Seaside, CA. We are an all-hazard emergency response agency, providing first-class customer service to our jurisdiction and to our community partners such as the cities of Seaside, Marina, and California State University-Monterey Bay. POM Fire Department also responds throughout the State of California to combat large wild land fires as part of the Monterey County Strike Teams. POM Firefighters are professional, competent, and dedicated to serving our military members, their families, and the entire Monterey Military Community.
About the Location: The Presidio of Monterey (POM) is located in the city of Monterey, California about 117 miles south of San Francisco, on the Pacific Coast. The Monterey Peninsula has a rich history, and its rugged coastline is known for its natural beauty. Monterey is beautiful, but may be considered to have a high cost of living. The median house price is 450K. The rental market is high as well. There is no on-site housing available. It is highly recommended that research be done about the cost of living in commuting areas prior to applying.
