    The West Texas VA Health Care System, Big Spring, Texas is currently recruiting for an Optometrist, Ophthalmology Service.

    Responsibilities

    The Optometrist will provide excellent clinical eye care and refractions to the West Texas Veterans. He/she will also provide clinical supervision to Optometry students; refers patients with multiple health problems to other providers within the facility and the VISN; consults with physicians and others. When requested to augment the care of their patients as it relates to ophthalmic manifestations of systemic conditions; he/she will utilize the general clinical privileges which include ordering diagnostic tests as appropriate; and write prescriptions for medications or other items on the hospital formulary; independently exercise creativity in solving problems without direct supervisory guidance to meet the varying needs of patients while under care of the Eye Clinic and assures that a high degree of quality patient care is provided at all times.
    Travel will be required to the Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Odessa, Texas once a week.

    Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and may vary depending on the hiring facility.
