As a NIH Student Trainee (Engineering) you will:
-Assist professional engineers and/or technicians in performing technical engineering work. Provide technical support and assistance.
-Assist in assembly, installation, or operation of equipment, instruments, or facilities.
-Participate in testing activities, including the recording and proper interpretation of routine test results.
-Conduct basic field observations as well as obtain, identify, handle and store material samples.

This position is a temporary NIH Internship position with a not to exceed (NTE) date of 9/30/2018; however, the appointment may be extended. Students that are graduating May or June of 2018 that are not enrolled for a new degree-seeking program after graduation will be rated ineligible for this position.
NIH Student Trainees, with U.S. citizenship, may be converted to a career or career-conditional appointment (permanent, or to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of all program requirements specified by the Pathways Participant Agreement. Student Trainees must work 640 hours prior to graduation in order to be eligible for conversion.

Student Trainees and their supervisors must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement which outlines expectations for the internship prior to entrance on duty.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 of higher on a 4.0 scale is required throughout the duration of the program.

Student Trainees appointed for less than 90 days in duration are generally not eligible for benefits.
