Summary

The Office of Administration (OA) is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated students to serve as unpaid student interns to assist in the performance of its mission of providing support services for the Executive Office of the President (EOP).
The OA, was founded in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter to carry out the mission of providing effective, efficient and economical administrative services to the EOP. Within this entity are financial management, information technology support, human resources management, research assistance, legal services, and printing and graphic design work.
As an integrating and servicing component for the ten other offices within the EOP, the OA Internship Program is designed to attract students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions (ranging from undergraduate to graduate school).
The EOP is comprised of The White House Office, Executive Residence, Office of the Vice President, Office of the United States Trade Representative, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Office of the National Drug Control Policy, Office of Management and Budget, Office of Administration, National Security Council, Council on Environmental Quality, and Council of Economic Advisers. The EOP is responsible for a multitude of tasks ranging from communicating the President's Message to the American people, to promoting our trade interests abroad.
The Office of Administration offers challenging and exciting valuable professional experience and builds leadership skills in the Federal work environment.
The 2018 Office of Administration Summer Student Internship will begin June 5, 2018 to August 24, 2018.

Duties

Help

The Office of Administration (OA) Director's Office is the central hub for all business operations within the OA, including: administrative, financial, logistical, security and emergency preparedness, information technology and legal services.

An intern is needed to assist the Deputy Director's Executive Assistant with administrative tasks of the office, including:
Drafting and/or editing correspondence and other documents
Editing internal reports
Special projects as assigned
Ordering office supplies
Maintaining hard and soft files, and creating a file index
Copying/scanning/printing
Organizing internal policy directives
Communicating with White House Management on various items of importance
Conducting market research
Assisting with OA events
Other duties as assigned

A good candidate for this position will possess these qualities:

Ability to practice discretion with respect to certain sensitive information learned by virtue of serving in this office
Professional attitude and appearance
Exceptional writing and editing skills (writing samples required)
Proper email etiquette and manners (judicious use of reply all, forwarding, etc.)
Ability to pick up a multitude of tasks and juggle competing priorities
Excellent customer service skills, including greeting senior level customers/staff and other guests who may visit the office
Ability to discern critical details
Excellent administrative skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook
Ability to be a problem-solver

Conditions of employment

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a citizen or national of the United States
  • Be registered with Selective Service
  • Must submit at minimum a two page writing sample
  • Obtain a favorable security determination
  • Enrolled in a degree seeking academic program throughout internship
  • Must Have a 3.0 GPA
  • Relocation Expenses will not be paid
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

Applicants will not be considered if they do not meet every key requirement.

Proof of enrollment for the duration of the internship must be provided within the application package to include student transcripts or class schedule.

Education

As outlined in this announcement, all applicants must be enrolled in a degree seeking academic program for the duration of the internship. Prospective interns will be required to show proof of enrollment upon selection.

If selected, you will be required to sign a Nondisclosure Form.

If selected, you are required to show proof of enrollment in a degree seeking academic program for the dates of the internship.
