Intern will provide support to the Langley Research Center's research and science community by providing digital access to technical content and systems.
Under the guidance of technical information specialists providing digital information assets to the Langley Research Center, you will:
- Participate in efforts of digital production and preservation to support research (e.g., copyright clearance; quality control; digitization; and, metadata creation, transformation, enhancement and archiving)
- Perform metadata audits of existing digital collections and migration of legacy digital collections to new platforms
- Assist with organizing the digital library, combining functionality for information, planning, data mining, knowledge mining, digital reference services, and electronic information services to meet researcher requirements
- Provide digital reference and electronic information services by responding to requests for information concerning specific and varied research topics - Collaborate with researchers and colleagues to identify, plan and execute strategies for digitizing and accessing materials online.
Be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment
Enrolled/accepted in an accredited educational institution
Pursuing a degree
Maintain enrollment at least half time as defined by the institution
Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.9 on a 4.0 scale
You will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.

Be available to begin work by May 2018.
Have at least one academic year of study remaining before completing degree requirements.

Qualifications
Starting GS grade levels are determined by education level:
GS-7: Accepted into a master's program OR in the first year of a master's program. Starting salary: $41,365.00
GS-9: Completed one academic year of a master's program OR accepted into a doctorate program OR in the first year of a doctorate program. $50,598.00

Education
This position has a Selective Placement Factor (SPF) (screen-out) which will also be used to determine minimum qualifications for this position. Applicants not possessing this Selective Placement Factor will be found ineligible for this position.
To be eligible for this position and meet the SPF, you must be pursuing a degree in Library or Information Science to include digital libraries, data science, library technology management or information architecture.

The Intern may be converted to a Librarian GS-11 with promotion potential to the GS-13 level.
