About the Position:
This position is located with the U.S. Army Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Activity, TMDE Support Center McAlester, in McAlester, OK. TMDE Support Center McAlester is a Tenant Organization on the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) that provides calibration and repair support of general and special purpose test equipment to the Department of the Army, as well as various reimbursable customers, in support of Army Maintenance missions.

Duties

Help

  • Calibrate in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical, laser, physical and dimensional measurements to the secondary transfer level calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
  • Select, apply and interpret electronic principles and practices to collect, reduce, display, and analyze calibration data for a wide variety of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
  • Calibrate all types of electronic, electrical and electromechanical measurement systems used in industrial, ground, airborne and experimental applications.
  • Prepare calibration reports providing assigned values, correction factors and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated.
  • Serve as a specialist in physical, dimensional and ionizing radiation calibration.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to calibrate electronic, electrical, and electromechanical measurement systems used in industrial, ground, airborne or experimental applications and determine appropriate measurement tolerances based on equipment specifications.

Physical Demands: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
