Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

- Maintain control and prevent accident situations for all radioactive contaminated materials, tools and equipment in transit.
- Completes specialized training for accountability and transfer of radioactive material.
- Verifies qualification status of all transportation driver utilized in transfer, handling, storage and accountability.
- Assures adherence to established Radiological Control procedures and requirements.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final confidential security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) may or may not be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - The work involves frequent bending, reaching and stooping, strenuous activities such as climbing, vertical ladders, staging or scaffolding in dry dock and vessel areas, work in cramped quarters undergoing repair, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - Involves risk of exposure to radioactively contaminated materials which require special precautions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

- Notifies Radiological personnel and request assistance when needed with stopping and containing spillage of radiological contamination.
- Ensures personnel assistance in the event of injured personnel by isolating the immediate area of the accident or spill.
- Scans every barcode accountability number with the Hand Held Terminal and inspect packaging to ensure integrity.
- Participates in the physical inventory of all Radioactive Material Accountability stored outside radiologically controlled areas.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE for GS-08: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Educational Substitution for GS-8: I have successfully completed one and half year (9 semester hours) of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled. (Transcripts must be provided.)

Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-8.
