OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

The Supervisory Writer–Editor, located in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Audits and Evaluations (OAE), is responsible for supervising a team of Communications Analysts and is expected to assist and oversee all editing and writing for OAE audit reports and other work products.

Help

As a Supervisory Writer–Editor, you will:

-Assist audit teams in developing OIG reports, including helping to plan, outline, write, revise, and edit drafts.
-Suggest ways to streamline or reorganize drafts and helping to respond to comments from stakeholders and agencies.
-Acquire and apply knowledge about OIG reporting standards, including those related to findings and evidence.
-Advise staff on issues related to both written and oral communication style, in accordance with governing guides (such as the Chicago Manual of Style and the OIG’s Style and Usage Guide for Writing and Editing OIG Reports).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-advising and assisting authors during the writing stage; AND
-identify message ideas and issues to external audiences; AND
-evaluating and coaching the performance of staff.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
