    Summary

    The Sciences and Exploration Directorate, Solar System Exploration Division, Planetary Magnetospheres Laboratory (Code 695) is seeking a leader in precision measurement methods and technologies and conducts research in the field of planetary magnetospheres.

    Responsibilities

    You will provide concept development, instrument design, implementation, supervision, publishing, and critiquing of advanced research activities in space physics.

    The scope of the research encompasses planetary physics, magnetospheric physics, and planetary astronomy with particular emphasis on instrumentation, planetary magnetic fields, and electrodynamic processes occurring within planetary magnetospheres.

    You will study sources, natures and effects of magnetic, and electric fields, as well as, energetic particles in space environments.

    You will lead the organization and implementation of programs of observational research from space or ground-based observations, involving planetary magnetic fields.

    You will formulate and direct large data reduction and analysis programs for space flight magnetic field experiments and remote observations experiments. Devise and test new approaches to the analysis of satellite experimental data.

    You will serve as a recognized technical authority and authoritative source of consultation for other scientists and program specialists and resolves issues that significantly affect other scientific programs. Provide expert advice in the development and evaluation of scientific programs.

    You will assert scientific leadership in Division and NASA programs, involving the development of new technology or instrumentation for space or ground-based research. Such leadership could take the form of organization and leadership of teams of scientists and engineers overseeing the development of spacecraft, new instrumentation, or the monitoring of related contractor activities.
