    This position is located in the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Communications Office, in Silver Spring, MD.

    This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.

    The ZA-05 is equivalent to the GS-15.

    The full performance for this position is ZA-05.

    The individual selected for this position will:

    • Serve as the Director, Communication Office, overseeing the implementation of the strategic communication program and the direction of OAR communication activities.
    • Create and build trust and solid relationships with OAR leadership and employees located at headquarters, laboratories and programs across the country; with stakeholders, including constituent groups, trade associations, environmental groups, other agencies; and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) staff.
    • Perform a range of supervisory duties including hiring, delegating assignments, and evaluating performance.
    • Provide leadership on communication policy and resolution of communication issues of importance to senior leaders.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Approximately 10% of Domestic and Foreign Travel may be required.
