As an Auditor, GS-511-13, your typical work assignment may include the following:
Conducts Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR) and special project reviews for compliance with professional standards and identify issues and trends that may affect the Department of Defense (DoD).
Conducts internal control reviews for DoD OIG Components' and Directorates' Assessable Units conducted in support of the OIG Management Internal Control Program and the OIG Annual Statement of Assurance.
Gathers and analyzes the audit, inspection, or assessment work of others to determine compliance with applicable Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), Government Accountability Office (GAO), DoD, and other applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Prepares project documentation and writes findings, actionable recommendations, draft and final report segments or complete reports, and other products in accordance with applicable CIGIE, GAO, and DoD OIG requirements. The project documentation and reports must be factually sound, clear, concise, and require minimal revisions.
Prepares and presents briefings and recommendations to DoD OIG executive leadership.
Prepares written and oral recommendations for conducting QARs and special project reviews of DoD OIG programs, reports, or products to assess compliance with professional standards and policies and procedures.

Other Position Requirements
Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Organizational entities with the DoD are not required to conduct drug testing for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another TDP with no break in service within the DoD, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis by the gaining Component.

Qualifications
For this position, you must meet the basic requirements and the specialized experience to be considered qualified.

Basic Requirement: A degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses. (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.)
OR
A qualifying combination of education and experience: 4 years of accounting experience or a combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses (the 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law) or a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor.

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: utilizing professional knowledge of the theory, concepts and practices of accounting and auditing to ensure quality work when conducting quality assurance reviews; internal control reviews; analyzing data, drawing conclusions and recommending corrective action; and working as a team member ensuring overall projects are accomplished in accordance with quality assurance concepts, principles, practices, and methodologies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.
