About the Position:
This is a stand alone position with the U.S. Army Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) activity located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in eh beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hours drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

As a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator, your duties will include the following:

  • Apply electronic principles to collect and analyze calibration data.
  • Prepare calibration reports for customer use.
  • Assist customers in areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments.
  • Identify and document errors in procedures.
  • Apply practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques to diagnose/repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Interpret technical procedures and schematics for use in calibration assignments.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Applying electronic principles to collect and analyze calibration data. Preparing calibration reports for customer use. Assisting customers in areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments. Identifying and documenting errors in procedures.
Applying practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques to diagnose/repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Interpreting technical procedures and schematics for use in calibration assignments. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices
  • Troubleshooting
  • Physical effort:The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirement to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
