    OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

    The Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Special Agent in Charge), located in one of the Field Offices of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), is responsible for formulating and directing a comprehensive criminal investigative program in the geographical area covered by his/her Field Office. Such areas typically encompass a large number of States and judicial districts, VA Medical Centers, Regional Offices and other Departmental entities.

    Position will be located in one of the following locations: Bedford, MA, Manchester, NH, Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Buffalo, NY.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator, you will:
    - Plan, direct, conduct, and review all aspects of the regional investigative program, which include the review and analyses of allegations of fraud and other criminal activities as well as administrative irregularities.
    - Manage and direct a staff of criminal investigators.
    - Analyze requests for investigations based on nature of allegation, jurisdiction, complexity, cost, staffing, equipment needed, time constraints, inherent dangers, publicity, current caseload, availability and experience of criminal investigators.
    - Participate in the formulation of the OIG investigative plan and continually review and evaluate organizational goals and objectives to ensure compliance.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
