Summary

This position is located in Illesheim, Germany, which is in the surrounding community of Ansbach, Germany. It is home to US Army Garrison Ansbach and to the V Corps' 12th Aviation Combat Brigade. USAG Ansbach provides base support services to the military personnel and their families in the Ansbach, Katterbach, and Illesheim communities. Ansbach is located in the German state of Bavaria. The Middle Franconian region of Bavaria is a somewhat flat, yet rolling terrain. The area might best be described as the foothills of the Alps, which are only 2-3 hours away and provide marvelous retreats from the daily grind. Help

  • Serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional measurements applicable to the secondary transfer level calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • Selects, applies, and interprets electronic principle and practices to collect, reduce, display, and analyze calibration data for a wide variety of complex general and special purpose.
  • Prepares calibration reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections factors, and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated.
  • interfaces with user, manufacture, and US Army TMDE Activity engineers as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy fo instruments or non-standards.
  • Assist and advises users in the application of, and calibration requirements for TMDE in support of their mission.
  • Implements, adapts, modifies and occasionally develops technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements.
  • Identifies and documents error in existing procedures and provides information used the development of technical documents used for TMDE calibration and certification.
  • Serves, as the workload dictates, as a specialist in physical/dimensional and ionizing radiation calibration.

Other Requirements:

  • This is a Career Program Position (CP) 17.
  • Position is designated Emergency Essential (E-E) in support of mobilization and wartime mission. The incumbent will be required to remain in the overseas position in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority. E-E employees are required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training and to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises. Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location. Prior to appointment to the position, employee will sign a statement agreeing to the E-E condition of employment.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL DEMAND: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.

  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
  • If an employee brings a family member to an overseas location who requires medical or dental care, then the employee will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to successful applicants for positions at overseas locations. For this provision to apply to employees already overseas, the selected individual would have to require a permanent change of station move and would have to be selected as a result of a recruitment effort that had been extended outside of the overseas command involved.
  • Selectees initially recruited from the United States may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. (Subject to approval)
  • Selectees recruited outside the U.S. will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire.
