The incumbent of this position serves as Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits & Evaluations and, in that capacity, provides executive leadership and program direction to the work activities of over 100 auditors, management analysts, and administrative support staff. The incumbent shares management responsibility with the Assistant Inspector General of Audits & Evaluations for all initiatives related to audits and evaluations of VA programs and operations and is responsible for setting organizational goals; monitoring and evaluating progress toward organizational goals; and is held accountable for the success of programs under the incumbent's supervision.
Current career Senior Executives, QRB-certified graduates of SES candidate development programs, and individuals with SES reinstatement eligibility are not required to address the executive core qualifications. They are required to address the technical qualifications. All other applicants are required to address both the executive core qualifications and the technical qualifications.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications Requirements: To meet minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the following technical and executive core competencies. These competencies would typically be gained through experience, education, and training that reflects progressive development and achievement in managing a nationwide organization. An individual’s total experience and education must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
A. Technical Professional Competency(TPC)– All applicants must include a narrative statement showing how their knowledge and experience relates to the following TPCs. The narrative statement should not exceed two pages for each competency.
TPC 1: Demonstrated experience in the management of a comprehensive audit and evaluation program, including developing strategic and annual audit and evaluation plans; formulating and administering audit and evaluation policies and procedures; and managing a diverse and geographically dispersed professional workforce.
TPC 2: Extensive knowledge and experience in planning, conducting, and reporting on performance audits of programs and operations in accordance with Government Auditing Standards.
B. Executive Core Qualifications– All applicants, unless noted below, must include a narrative statement, not to exceed 10 pages, with no more than two pages for each of the following qualifications:
