The selectee for this position will serve as an Engineering Technician in the SYSTEMS INTEGRATION DEPARTMENT of the CONVENTIONAL AMMUNITION DIVISION of the AMMUNITION ENGINEERING SUPPORT BRANCH of NAVSURFWARCEN IHEODTECHDIV.

Responsibilities
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Creating test plans and procedures for NAVAIR Gun and ammunition.
- Setting up the Navy Picatinny Range.
- Performing testing and maintenance on NAVAIR Medium Caliber Weapons Systems.
- Maintaining a gun shop and calibration program.
- Presenting technical information to Program Sponsors and management.

Requirements:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 pay band (GS-9/10 equivelent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering support for the overhaul of Minor & Medium Caliber guns.
