This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, Office of Deputy Inspector General for Auditing, Financial Management and Reporting (FMR) Directorate.
As a Lead Auditor GS-0511-13, your typical work assignment may include the following:
1. Research applicable laws, directives and other regulatory material to gain audit knowledge.
2. Oversee a team of auditors and other appropriate staff to ensure proper application of audit techniques.
3. Articulates and communicates to the assigned team the audit project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, deadlines and timeframes for completion.
4. Leads assigned audit team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees to accomplish overall mission.
5. Serves as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.
6. Represents the team in dealing with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions for the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise.
7. Researches, learns and applies a wide range of qualitative and /or quantitative methods to identify, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
8. Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or an appropriate management official.
9. Communicates team consensus and recommendations to the supervisor on actions affecting team and individual awards, rewards and recognition.
10. Communicates to the supervisor on audit team member performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions, such as assignments, reassignments, promotions, of duty changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals.
11. Maintains security and accountability of classified information.
Occasional travel - May require up to 25% of temporary travel duty (TDY)
