Help

At the Full Performance Level, the successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Provides comprehensive research, reference, advisory, evaluative, and instructional services to individuals and groups at the Navy's Department Library.
  • Develops resource directories in paper and electronic format.
  • Cooperates wih others in coordinated efforts to accomplish projects or tasks that may include other sections of the Library.
  • Provides superior customer service and delivers information in a timely and efficient manner to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; OR have a total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. Your education, training, and experience established knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.

GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Qualifying experience includes the following tasks and responsibilities: 1) Locating information from both published and unpublished sources as well as electronic databases; 2) Assisting in collection development and management; 3) Assisting in the creation of specialized bibliographies; and 4) Updating content within the library's section of the Organization's website; OR have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in library science; OR have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position; OR have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

GS-09: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Qualifying experience includes the following tasks and responsibilities: 1) Utilizing online information retrieval systems; 2) Conducting computer assisted searches in multiple online databases; and 3) Assisting senior librarians in solving information access, dissemination, and/or preservation problems; OR have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education related to the position; OR have successfully completed a master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree (e.g., LL.B. or J.D.) related to the position; OR have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
