Summary
This is a Student Trainee position under the Pathways Internship Program. The employee performs a range of Policy Analyst duties that are designed to enhance his/her professional knowledge conducting in-depth analyses, and provides staff support for comprehensive and long-term planning and strategy.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a team player with interest in researching, analyzing, developing, and implementing policies and guidance. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively across organizational boundaries to contribute to the design and implementation of Federal transportation programs, strategic plans, and qualitative evaluations. Relevant coursework includes courses that involve analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc., which provide an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Possible policy areas include emerging trends in transportation technology, decision analysis, risk assessment, economic regulations, qualitative analysis, strategic planning, program evaluation, environmental analysis, environmental permitting, and transportation legislation.
Flexibility, creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to take initiative will help you to find—or to create—the projects that interest you the most. Good social skills will allow you to establish a close rapport with our clients both over the phone and in the field. The appointment is not-to-exceed September 28, 2018, and can be extended without further competition at management’s discretion based on the need of the organization for the work to continue and provided the employee remains eligible for employment in the Pathways Intern Program.
