About the Position:
Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties

Help

  • Serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • The purpose is to provide calibration traceable through the Army Calibration Laboratory and Army Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
  • Performs repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications.
  • Prepares test and certification reports.
  • Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. I am able to performing some task as Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator tasks including calibrate and repair Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation, working under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices
  • Troubleshooting
  • Physical Efforts: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
