Summary

A successful candidate in this position will serve as the Information Security Officer (ISO) and a Federal lead for a team of cybersecurity support contractors in conducting a comprehensive and continuous assessment of the management, operational, and technical security controls of the organization. Responsibilities will also include the proper implementation and effectiveness of each control as well as the assurance that those controls are achieving the desired outcome with respect to meeting the security requirements.

Help

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-14, you will:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in assuring adequate level of security for EIA data.
  • Provide Management with technical reviews and analyses of DOE and EIA INFOSEC plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures that DOE-wide security enhancement initiatives, including implementation of training programs, firewalls, network intrusion detection, incident response and reporting, dissemination of threat information, e-Authentication capabilities, etc., are consistent with cybersecurity baseline controls and policies.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS 13 in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  1. Experience managing the implementation of information security requirements into the Information Cybersecurity Architecture;
  2. Experience providing management with technical reviews and analyses on information security program plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
  3. Experience developing, implementing, assessing, and monitoring baseline security controls;
  4. Experience identifying cybersecurity weakness and implementing processes to resolve those weaknesses.
GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

  1. Knowledge of IT security methods and practices used in collecting strategic resource requirements in order to meet the EIA and DOE mission goals.
  2. Knowledge of advancements and current trends in information management and technologies within DOE, Federal government, and private sectors in order to implement the most robust cybersecurity policy possible.
  3. Skill in applying total infrastructure protection in the IT security assurance environment through multiple levels of management systems including certification and accreditation requirements in order to reinforce EIA and DOE critical IT safeguards throughout the network.
  4. Knowledge of Federal IT security guidance, policies, and procedures with expertise in the full range of complex areas of Information Management, systems, and technologies.

EDUCATION:
