Summary

About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Help

This position is located in the Plans and Operations Division, Support Operations Branch, Logisitcs Readiness Center at Fort Drum, NY. In this position you will:

  • Serve are the Operations Planning Specialist with responsibility for developing, coordinating, and evaluating the effectiveness of a variety of planning efforts.
  • Plan and advise on implementation of new ideas, procedures, processes, methods or approaches of substantial scope, difficulty, and complexity in areas of productivity, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure strategic planning evaluation/assessments adequately and effectively address and measure key customer and operational requirements for on-going process improvements.
  • Perform staff actions/analysis and coordination actions related to all aspects of productivity, quality management, and continuous improvement management.
  • Coordinate planning for and participation in recurring and special mobilization and other contingency exercises/operations.
  • Review support portion of OPLANS and mobilization plans.
  • Plan, analyze, and coordinate current and future operations support requirements in the supply, maintenance, training and transportation areas.
  • Develop mobilization operations plans and procedures to accomplish mobilization missions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience Required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience assisting in developing logistic support plans and coordinating plans with various divisions; developing operations guidance and techniques for mobilization,disaster, contingency, and force modernization programs; planning and analyzing operations support requirements; reviewing and analyzing operation plans polices and regulations for operational impact on the activity. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
