Summary

This announcement will be used to fill Helper Trainee (Various Trades), Tools and Parts Attendant; Material Expediter, and Ship Inactivation & Dismantling trainee at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.PSNS and IMF

If selected, you will be placed on a Full-Time seasonal work schedule. Employees on a Full-Time seasonal work schedule are subject to placement in non-pay status at the end of peak work periods and recalled when workload increases.

Duties

Help

If selected, for one of the positions shown below you may perform the following duties:

HELPER TRAINEE (VARIOUS TRADES)

  • Assisting skilled and semi-skilled trades workers by performing the simpler duties of the trade.
  • Obtaining tools, plans, and materials.
  • Assisting others in performing trade tasks such as disassembly, repair, and assembly of components; preparation, coating or removal of materials from surfaces; removal, fitting, and installation of piping; and lifting, handling, storing and disposing of materials.

MATERIALS EXPEDITER
  • Assisting in keeping production workers supplied with tools, material, and equipment as required during work execution.
  • Assisting in preparing identification and shipping tags for outgoing and incoming material.

TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT
  • Conducting inventories of tools and parts
  • Receiving incoming items; storing items in specifically designated locations.

SHIP INACTIVATION & DISMANTLING TRAINEE
  • Assisting in dismantling, removing, and disposing of materials and equipment.
  • Assist in lifting and moving heavy equipment, and transporting supplies and tools through confined spaces.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final confidential security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

You must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

Must be able to obtain and maintain qualifications for work with hazardous materials including lead, asbestos, and PCBs.

May be required to travel away from normal duty station, and work overtime, and various shifts.

May be required to obtain and maintain qualification for nuclear and/or radiological work.

Must be able to consistently lift 60 pounds. Occasionally may be required to lift heavier than 60 pounds.

May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
