About the Position:
The position is assigned to HQ U.S. Army Materiel Command, Office of Public and Congressional Affairs. Redstone Arsenal. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing the command strategic communications program, as well as conducting a public information program.

This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama. The city of Huntsville is a high-tech city nestled between the edge of the Appalachian Mountains in North Alabama and the Tennessee River. The Huntsville area has one of the largest research parks in the United States. It is also home to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, championship golf courses, museums, professional theater, symphony, and sports franchises.

Help

  • Manage the content and design of an external web site
  • Develop presentations, articles and correspondence for delivery by high-level officials to specified media and audiences.
  • Prepare talking points for engagements, interviews, conference presentations, executive summaries and related communications media.
  • Communicate an organization's goals to the general public or key stakeholders.
  • Develop informational materials, such as event briefs, fact sheets, brochures and booklets, to increase relationships with various target audiences.
  • Write speeches for public release.
  • Coordinate senior leader participation in community events.
  • Review programs and policies for their relationship to public opinion and organization's mission objectives.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties in the following areas of public affairs, execute social media and digital content, conduct a community relations program, prepare and release information for public consumption such as articles and press releases. GS-09

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing duties in the following areas of public affairs, plan, coordinate, and manage social media and digital content, develop and lead a community relations program, present information to various audiences using multiple written, visual and oral platforms, techniques and media. GS-11

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (Total graduate hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
