Help

Incumbent performs variety of duties in support of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Community Recreation program that includes special events, recreation information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, bowling, Library, grab-n-go , movies and outdoor recreation. The incumbent responsibilities includes demonstrating customer service while attending to front counter operations such as use of point of sale systems,  assisting customers with questions, complaints and suggestions. Responsibilities further entails, program support such as scheduling events and birthday parties, social events and leagues. Collects fees/cash handling from customers associated with retail and rental items using Point of Sales (POS). Assists customers in the operation of the bowling scoring system. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general housekeeping as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. Must hold an Emergency First Responder (EFR) OR CPR, First Aid, C.A.R.E certification , Food Handler's OR be able to obtain these trainings/certifications within 90 days of being placed in the position.  Work may require considerable physical exertion while instructing or guiding participants in a variety of bowling activities. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderate heavy items up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items. Average of 20 hours of work per week up to 40 hours. Employee works on an adjustable work schedule that will include; nights, weekends and holidays as well as regular day shift hours.   

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities. Knowledge of goals, principles and techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities. Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of bowling recreation activities. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Possess basic knowledge of computers. Individual must be responsible with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public. Must have strong customer service skills. A neat and clean appearance required. Will need to collect and accurately record cash transactions, and operate a cash register.
