As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (FORCE PROTECTION/ANTI-TERRORISM), GS-0080-12, you will serves as the State Antiterrorism/Force Protection Officer (ATO) - the Massachusetts National Guard subject matter expert for antiterrorism and force protection (AT/FP) matters supervising the MA National Guard AT/FP, physical security, operations security, emergency management and personnel security programs and full-time staff. Responsible for developing Joint state level AT/FP plans, policies procedures; budget planning and execution to prioritize and generate protection program objectives; coordinating with other staff directorates to synchronize and integrate protection function activities and priorities; facilitates required working groups and advisory committees; executing, tracking and reporting AT/FP, security and emergency management programs' status; manages the Army funded ATO training program to ensure the MA ARNG sustains qualified AT trained personnel at all command levels; reviews classified and unclassified threat information coordinating with the G2 staff for follow up actions as required; and staff synchronization and synthesizing overall protection issues to develop holistic program assessments. Establishes working relationships and communications with state, regional and local critical nodes in the law enforcement sector acting as the focal point to coordinate, deconflict, and integrate various protection initiatives between the JFHQ and the SMC's, Wings, and civil partners. Provides detailed analysis of threat information to the Command and staff and develops advisories to keep all levels of command informed of AT/FP and security issues. Prepares AT/FP plans, templates and planning tools for subordinate units, develops comprehensive anti-terrorism plans, develops and recommends a state-wide random antiterrorism measures program to protect personnel, installations and geographically separated units. Provides recommendations, briefings, updates, and staff studies for MA NG leadership addressing a broad range of security specialties in order to support strategic and operational policy development. Coordinates with the Sub Major Commands ATO's on OPSEC, RAM's, Physical Security inspections and contracts; facilitates inquires and coordinates with the G2 staff regarding foreign disclosure office matters to include information release, protocol, base access; and may serve as the JFHQ-MA command security manager responsible for administrating and establishing policies and procedures for maintaining effective personnel and information security programs. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs.

An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory. The college degree work should include completed academic courses in sociology, criminology, police administration, criminal justice, or a related area.
