About the Position:
Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Help

As a Transportation Assistant, GS-2102-06 with the Logistics Readiness Center you will:

  • Forward completed reconciliation packets to the servicing Defense Finance and Accounting Service within required timeframe
  • Ensure invoices are reconciled and/or certified properly to ensure compliance and prompt payment of provided travel services
  • Arrange group travel by bus and/or plane as appropriate to meet mission and follow applicable travel regulation/guidance
  • Reconcile centrally billed accounts for transportation section
  • Manage centrally billed transportation accounts used by assigned section and/or travelers of supported activities

  • May be required to serve as a member of the Departure/Arrival Airfield Control Group (DAACG), utilizing a skill that is classified no higher than the current grade. Work may involve shift work, weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is experience such as: reconciling Travel Office accounts on monthly basis, verifying orders to ensure compliance with rules and regulations such as the Joint Federal Travel Regulations, resolving disputes with Travel Office, and accomplishing statistical data entry. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
