OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

The Supervisory Program Specialist, located in the Office of Inspector General, Office of the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Administration, is responsible for broad management activities of the Financial and Administrative Support Division. These activities include developing OIG administrative policies and procedures and providing administrative services including procurement; leasing office space; preparing and processing of travel orders and vouchers; overseeing the agency's purchase card program; and managing property assets.

Help

As a Supervisory Program Specialist, you will:

  • Direct the provision of administrative services including procurement; space; communications; preparation and processing of travel orders and vouchers; property management, etc.
  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of replies to Congressional, Office of Management and Budget, or other Federal entity correspondence and certain other correspondence referred to the Inspector General.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of staff and projects covering the broad range of areas of responsibility.
  • Develop OIG administrative policies and procedures.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

• Managing multiple (three or more) administrative services such as procurement, leasing, space management, preparation and processing of travel orders/vouchers, security, safety and health management, property management, etc. AND
• Assessing the effectiveness of operational programs and day-to-day outputs (e.g. using qualitative or quantitative analysis, developing metrics or other measures for evaluation, preparing findings from studies, etc.) AND
• Providing leadership and direction to a team (e.g. assessing training needs, overseeing projects or assignments, devising new work methods, evaluating employee performance, etc.) AND
• Working with senior management officials on special projects and administrative matters

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
