Group interviews will be conducted with a panel of four subject matter experts. Applicants will be received between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm (applicants will be turned away after 1 pm). Job Duties
Medical Support Assistants - These positions range from GS-0679-03/04/05 (MSAs) and GS-0679-06 (Advanced MSAs) $27, 716 - $50,448 per year
GS-0679-03/04/05 Medical Support Assistants (MSAs) are responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. Assignments include, but are not limited to: scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults, entering no-show information, monitoring electronic wait list, preparing for clinic visits, monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility, ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit, verifying and updating demographics and insurance information, processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals, performing basic eligibility, co-pays and preauthorization requirements for specific coverage.
GS-0679-06 Advanced Medical Support Assistants work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. The Advanced MSA coordinates with the patient care team to review the clinic utilization by using various reports, ensures that the clinic setup is closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinic, and make any necessary adjustments. They develop/maintain effective and efficient communication with the patient and interdisciplinary team, VA medical centers, and other agencies.
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses - These positions range from GS-0620-03/04/05/06 $39,750 - $61,911 per year
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPNs) are technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. They possess the knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and to accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information. They have the ability to observe, identify, and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education. LPNs prepares and administers prescribed medications and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures.
Housekeeping Aides - These positions are WG-3566-02 $14.53 - $16.99 per hour
Housekeeping Aides (HKAs) perform specialized tasks in completing sanitation duties. Routine tasks include, but are not limited to, waste removal, dusting, polishing, dust-mopping, damp mopping, cleaning of urinals, sinks, commodes, restocking supplies such as towels or tissues, cleaning equipment used, and performing periodic maintenance checks. HKAs may be assigned to clean rooms after patient-discharge, removes contaminated and room cleaning fluids and spills, and washes walls using power washers, cleans rugs using heavy industrial-type vacuum cleaners, shampoos rugs, and carpets.

Basic Requirements for all positions:

Specialized Experience:
MSAs - Must have six months of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position OR one year of education above high school
Grade determinations are as follows:
GS-03 - none beyond the basic requirements
GS-04 - one year of experience in clerical office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position OR two years of education above high school
GS-05 - one year of experience equivalent to the GS-04 level OR four years of education above high school
GS-06 - one year of experience equivalent to the GS-05 level
LPNs - Must be a graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate state agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Must possess a full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical/vocational nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States. Grade determinations are as follows:
GS-03 - none beyond the basic requirements
GS-04 - six months of qualifying experience as an LPN/LVN, OR one year of experience that involved nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical facility, OR graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months duration

GS-06 - completion of at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to the GS-05 level
HKAs - must be a preference eligible Veteran. A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. You will be rated on the ability to do the job of a housekeeping aid without more than normal supervision.
