Requirements:
All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Shift work, emergency overtime, and recall duty may be required.
CFC/HFC Certification (Universal) as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)- may be obtained upon employment.

Physical Effort:- Physical effort is required to maneuver equipment in and out of specific locations while dismantling and reassembling. The work requires frequent carrying and setting-up of parts and equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers. The work requires making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard-to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching.

Working Conditions - Works both inside and outside, on top of tall buildings, in drafty attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overheads. Personal protective equipment such as protective clothing, helmets, goggles, respirators, etc. may be required to be worn when there is a possibility of exposure to toxic refrigerants during regular maintenance and repair or when making emergency repairs.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Aptitude and Interest for Learning Trade Theory and Practice such as: Experience training or working in a vocational or trade related field or willingness and ability to learn a trade.

Conditions of Employment:
You must be willing and able to maintain good academic standing, academic course load, and continuous progress and proficiency in on-the-job learning and classroom training as prescribed in the four year apprentice program and respective trade. Each apprentice is required to receive related classroom and on-the-job training under the supervision of a journey level trades person. Classroom hours will be accomplished at local community colleges and training facilities during off duty hours, 2 to 3 nights per week, for the duration of the four year apprenticeship program. AND You must be willing and able to sign a two-year agreement to work within the Federal service for two years after completion of the four year apprenticeship program.

This position has promotion potential to the WG-10 grade. If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management.
