Help

The selectee will serve as an Information Technology Specialist, responsible for providing oversight, management execution support for IT projects that cross US Coast Guard organizational directorates and support multiple US Coast Guard missions.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

      • Providing government oversight for a full range system development life cycle activities for IT projects
      • Developing life cycle management plans that address operational and funding requirements
      • Coordinating activities with supervisor, internal and external counterparts
      • Analyzing alternatives and recommending solutions relating to the complete life cycle for information, technology systems, capabilities and components

Qualifications

GS 13: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include: Working on complex, multi-faceted prototypes systems, such as leading a multi-functional development project in software analysis, design, development, and implementation for a new system or major enhancement to an existing system; managing the life cycle development process of an information technology (IT) system; performing needs analysis to define opportunities for improved technology solutions; troubleshooting and resolving problems with systems or applications; ensuring system security policies are implemented in network and system designs.

2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  5. Ability to design, develop, and manage systems that meet current and future business requirements.
