    This position serves as a Historian at the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, Port Hueneme, CA collecting, analyzing, and preserving historical records and information and developing historical knowledge products which inform Navy leadership, sailors and the American public.

    The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

    • Plan, research, and prepare original studies, monographs, briefings, booklets, articles, scripts, chronologies, exhibit labels, and other products that furnish detailed historical background and perspective to current and historic Navy issues.
    • Plan, prepare, conduct, abstract, and transcribe oral history interviews that furnish detailed historical background and perspectives to current and historic Navy issues.
    • Respond to historical inquiries from the command, other Navy and Defense Department units and organizations, veteran organizations, and the general public.
    • Provide interpretive and intellectual support for public outreach functions to include permanent and temporary exhibits, multimedia presentations, online features, tours, education programs, history reenactments, and historical presentations.
