The Attorney Advisor (Veterans) position performs for the Board of Veterans' Appeals (BVA). The jurisdiction of BVA extends to all questions of law and fact under laws that affect the provision of benefits by the Secretary to veterans or their dependents or survivors. The incumbent must be able to handle all types of appeals, including those of exceptional difficulty, complexity or controversy. Major duties and responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
Physical Requirements: This position is primarily sedentary although some physical effort may be required.
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade (or equivalent within the Federal civil service) any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-15 position, you must have worked 52 weeks at the GS-14 or equivalent grade level within the Federal civil service.
Note: Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment. You can verify your education here: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/.
