About the Position: Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division (LI), is located in northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties:

This position is with the Directorate of Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security organization. You will perform a wide range of duties relating to the operation, maintenance, and repair of Live Fire Training Ranges, Enclosed Training Facilities, and Non-standard (non-permanent) Training ranges utilizing manual, electronic, computer controlled, static target systems, and ancillary devices. You will provide ground and facility maintenance and device support within ranges and facilities that accommodate military training and personnel in a timely manner while paying special attention to training requirements. You will operate tractors and forklifts (10,000 pounds.-8 gears and 18,000 pounds.-13 gears) with attachments such as brush hog, flail mower, sidearm mower, etc.

Qualifications

Screen-Out-Element: To qualify for this position, your resume must indicate your overall knowledge, skills and ability and/or training to independently perform the duties of an Electronics Worker as stated in the duties of the position with normal supervision.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.


JOB ELEMENTS: In addition to the screen out element, applicants will be rated against the following elements:

Physical Effort: Work requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting and turning. Also requires use of hands, feet, and legs to operate equipment and vehicle. Incumbent will exert moderately heavy physical effort in performing lifting and carrying tasks and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 70 pounds

Working Conditions: Predominately outside, subject to extremes in weather, danger of cuts and abrasions and electronic shock. Incumbent will perform maintenance repair work on live fire ranges. Incumbent maybe exposed to hazards of lead, carbon monoxide, electrocution hazard and SDZ encroachment.
