The student will be assigned to OMB's Health Division and will be responsible for a combination of professional, analytic, and administrative work. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage data requests to HHS and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on various budget, policy, and management topics. This includes understanding the details of these data requests; clearly explaining the request and its purpose to management; determining an appropriate review process and timeline; answering detailed questions from HHS, CPSC, and OMB, staff; identifying data inconsistencies; communicating across teams, and divisions; reviewing responses for accuracy; and coordinating review across teams.
Communicate assignments and analysis clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing, to multiple individuals within and outside of OMB.
Track congressional action related to appropriations and health policy, take notes and identify statements or amendments that run counter to administration priorities.
Review and analyze agency budget submissions, legislation, Congressional testimony, strategic management documents, and other information related to assigned areas.
Assist in the drafting of policy papers, performance goals, and financial analyses.
Coordinate the development and review of Budget materials.
Proofread documents and identify data inconsistencies.
Coordinate and track organization-wide and agency assignments on behalf of the Health Division and ensure accuracy and consistency with Administration policy.
Support Division operations and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Examples of specialized experience are:
For the GS-04: I have one year of specialized experience that is equal or equivalent to the GS-03 level in the Federal service performing the following: assisting in planning and conducting projects; tracking assignments and deadlines; communicating clearly in writing and orally; organizing data and information; providing basic research support; and performing clerical tasks such as arranging meetings and maintaining files.
For the GS-05: I have one year of specialized experience that is equal or equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing the following: planning, developing and conducting projects; tracking assignments and deadlines; communicating clearly in writing and orally; organizing and analyzing data and information; researching complex issues; and performing clerical tasks such as arranging meetings and maintaining files.
For the GS-07: I have one year of specialized experience that is equal or equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service performing the following: Planning, developing and conducting projects; tracking assignments and deadlines; communicating clearly in writing and orally; organizing and analyzing data and information; providing quantitative and qualitative analysis; analyzing organizational, policy, and operational challenges to support senior staff; and performing clerical tasks such as arranging meetings and maintaining files.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTE: Education must demonstrate the applicant obtained the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time education is considered 18 semester hours.
For the GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study.
For the GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
For the GS-07: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education OR completion of a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement Provision. Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. S.A.A. is based on (1) Class standing-applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-Point Average-applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society - membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.

If selected, you will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.Interns will work full-time during the summer and may work a flexible part-time work schedule during the school year (based on agency needs) while continuing their education.
You will be in a trial period throughout your entire Pathways Internship appointment. If selected by management, you are required to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306) to determine your suitability for federal employment and to authorize a background investigation.
This is an Excepted Service appointment. As a part of the Pathways Internship Program, the appointment may be extended until the selectee's educational program requirements have been completed.
