Works under the direction of the supervisor, who provides general guidance pertaining to the scope of assignment and the goals to be accomplished.
Performs non-professional and technical work primarily in providing reference service and also in acquiring, arranging and describing archives, non-current records and related material kept in manuscript repositories.
The work requires the application of a practical or technical knowledge of archival methods, procedures and techniques.
Assists in acquiring, organizing, cataloging and inventorying archival materials.
Understanding of archival methods and procedures to assure proper placement of archival holdings in stacks is required.

Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
OR
Four years of education above high school. A combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements will be considered qualifying for position.
NOTE: There is a "Highly Preferred" criteria for this position which includes two years or more of specialized experience as an Archives Technician. Two years of experience working in related fields such as museums and libraries. One year of experience dealing with the practical and technical methods and procedures related to digitization in a cultural heritage setting. If you have answered yes to either of these questions please ensure it is clearly reflected in your resume. "Highly Preferred" applicants may be referred to the Hiring Manager over other qualified applicants.
