Research applicable laws, directives, and other regulatory material to gain audit knowledge
Oversee a team of auditors and other staff to ensure proper application of audit techniques
Communicate to assigned teams the audit project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, deadlines and timeframes for completion
Lead assigned audit team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees to accomplish overall mission
Serve as coach, facilitator, and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus-building activities among team members
Represent team in dealing with supervisors or managers for the purpose of obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions on major work problems and issues that arise

Basic Requirement: A degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses. (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.)

A qualifying combination of education and experience: 4 years of accounting experience or a combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses (the 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law) or a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: utilizing professional knowledge of the theory, concepts and practices of accounting and auditing to ensure quality work when conducting audit reviews; analyzing data, drawing conclusions and recommending corrective action; and working as an audit team member ensuring overall projects are accomplished within Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and other established guidelines and timelines.
