About the Position:
This is a permanent position in the excepted service without time limitation and will not be filled by a competitive appointment. Service in this position may be fully creditable toward civil service retirement. Any selected applicant who is in the competitive service will be taken out of the competitive service when he or she occupies this position and will compete only with other excepted status employees in the event of a reduction-in-force. He or she, however, remain eligible for reinstatement in the competitive service.

The Assistant Chief Counsel for Litigation and Administrative Disputes position has overall supervisory and management responsibilities for the Litigation and Administrative Disputes Practice Group (CECC-L), Office of the Chief Counsel, Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The scope of work includes providing legal services in support of the Army and USACE strategic visions and campaign plan with a capable workforce, responsive to customers delivering innovative and effective solutions to the Nation's engineering challenges. This includes providing accurate legal advice, guidance and recommendations within agreed upon time frames. Representing the Army interests in litigation before courts and administrative tribunals to minimize adverse monetary judgments and executing the Corps expeditionary, civil works, military construction, environmental, real estate, and research and development programs.

An applicant must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
