The Mid-Atlantic Region Fleet & Family Readiness team is dedicated to providing a full range of quality programs and services that enhance the lives of Sailors and families in support of mission readiness and retention. FFR encompasses four program areas: Family Readiness (Fleet & Family Support Centers), Fleet Readiness (Child & Youth Programs, Morale, Welfare & Recreation, and Food Service Galleys), Housing Services & Lodging (Bachelor & Family and Navy Gateway Inns and Suites) and Navy Wounded Warrior - Safe Harbor.

Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) covers a wide scope of operations providing Sailors and their families with the finest facilities, programs and activities to meet their recreational and social needs.  MWR programs encourage positive individual values, aids retention, and provides the physical, mental and social needs of a mobile Navy.  MWR program encompass Fitness & Sports, Deployed Forces Support, Recreation, Entertainment and Food & Beverage Operations.

This position is located at the Epicenter, Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL.   Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Cashier.

Duties

Help

Takes orders from customers in the food court or via telephone for delivery customers. Collects monies for food and beverage sold, operates cash register, accounts for all monies collected at end of shift and prepares necessary cash receipt documentation (Daily Activity Records) and deposits cash. Cashier ensures accurate delivery of dine in and take out orders by verifying payment receipt upon delivery of food items. Clears and cleans dining tables and service area. Disposes of trash and/or directs custodial staff to remove trash and clean containers.  Cleans, sweeps and mops serving line and dining room floor as needed during shift. Perform other housekeeping functions as required to keep facility clean and orderly. Ensures cleanliness of area. Monitors serving area and restocks when necessary. Insures sufficient inventory of paper goods are on hand and maintains drink inventory for soda and condiment inventory for guest condiments. Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Must be able to operate a cash register. Accurately handle and account for funds received. Must have a pleasing personality and have the ability to handle customers tactfully. Work is primarily performed indoors with limited physical exertion involved.  Employment is conditional on the successful completion of a National Agency Check (NACI).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
