  1. Incumbent issues recreation equipment, uniforms, athletic equipment to authorized patrons ensuring that check-out slips are executed on all issued equipment.Incumbent also receives recreation equipment, uniforms and athletic equipment from patrons after use and returns to proper storage.

  2. Incumbent verities authorized patrons ensuring each patron correctly checks-in and may collect fees and issue receipts for use of the Fitness Center/Gym/Pool and programs by patrons authorized to pay and follow proper policies and procedures for receiving fees and responsible for properly inputting this information into Point of Sale (POS)/Class system. Responsible for change funds received and preparing Daily Activity Reports (DAR) at the end of each shift when required. Maintains information files, including records and receipts.

  3. Incumbent operates washer and dryer to keep uniforms, towels, soft goods, etc. clean and dry for issue.

  4. Incumbent assists with conducting events sponsored by the Fitness Center/Gym.Puts up nets, prepares courts, inspects equipment for safety, returning to proper place if moved.

  5. Incumbent answers telephones and provides basic information concerning the Fitness Center/Gym which includes but not limited to playing fields, racquetball courts, volleyball courts, basketball, softball, etc.

  6. Does walkarounds to check facility for security, fire and safety issues. Identifies equipment needing maintenance or repair and notifies supervisor.Assists in identifying patron’s equipment and program needs. May assist in performing maintenance on equipment.

  7. Incumbent continually ensures facility is being properly utilized and that all areas are safeguarded from misuse and performs general housekeeping. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe work area and may assist in cleaning and making facility ready for use.

  8. Performs other related duties as necessary to meet mission requirements.

Work involves ensuring operational efficiency in the athletic facilities during the incumbent’s assigned shift, requiring the completion of multiple tasks simultaneously and is subject to shifting priorities. Work is typically recurring in nature and completed independently.  This includes inspecting the facility continually to ensure equipment is in good working order and is being utilized appropriately and inspecting the work of subordinates in progress and upon completion for compliance with directions given.

Qualifications

No specific education required. Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public. Must present a neat, clean appearance. Must quickly acquire a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of the equipment used. Must be capable of collecting and accurately recording cash transactions, and operating a cash register. Must be capable of learning/passing CPR, First Aid and AED training within 90 days of appointment to the position.  Should have a positive work history demonstrating accountability in a customer service environment.

Additional information

Some positions have special requirements.  Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.  Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.  We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States.  Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
