Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the federal service to qualify for the GS-9. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Administrative Officer. Examples of appropriate experience include: Serving as a primary point of contact for a specific subject area; Using computer systems or applications to access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve, or manipulate data, files, or other information; Reviewing reports, documents, records, data, or other materials to verify completeness, correctness, consistency, compliance, or authenticity; Acquiring and maintaining a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures; Providing or disseminating information orally or in writing; and Entering, retrieving, and manipulating data in the VetLink program.

Possess a Master's degree or equivalent or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field. This education must have been from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours the school attended has determined to represent 1 full year of study.
OR
Combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-9, and may be computed by first determining the applicants total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the GS-7; then determining the applicants education as a percentage of education required for the GS-7; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal 100% to qualify an applicant for that grade level.
